Why I Live 8 Hours From the Airport — On Purpose
Would you start your trip a day early just to get to the airport? Wake up at 4AM to catch a raggedy old bus blasting reggaeton at sunrise? It might sound wild (okay, it is), but it’s my life. You'd think I’d live near the airport as a travel writer — but I don’t. I live in a tiny Panamanian beach town eight hours from it! (Plus a city overnight and a metro ride).
Why? Because life feels good here. Not convenient. Not “efficient.” But alive. In return, I get roosters, ocean sunrises, mid-day surf breaks, and the creative headspace only nature can offer.
Getting to the gate is a journey — but it’s one I’ll gladly keep taking. I wrote all about living at the end of the road in rural Panama for Business Insider. Click below and I'll share about what life is like here!
